Can Exercise Improve Brain Function?
Has any of
this happened to you?

- Your boss gives you a pile of paperwork and instructions at the end of Monday that you must submit
this report within the next 48 hours or else…
- Your
significant other doesn’t answer your calls when you need to be most connected.
- Your mom
sends you a guilt-tripping message saying you don’t visit enough.
- Your landlord completely ignores you when you tell her that part of the ceiling in your apartment is
leaking.
- Your
credit card bill is getting bigger and bigger and is taking over your dreams.
At this
point, you may start to feel a throbbing pain in your temples, like your head
is about to explode.
Easy. You
don’t want this to happen right now, do you?
Sit down,
take a deep breath, close your eyes, relax and clear your mind.
Sometimes, when it comes to controlling a chaotic life, a stressful situation, a physical
illness or an emotional dilemma, it usually starts inside you and your mind,
specifically your “subconscious mind”.
Communicating
with your subconscious mind doesn’t have to be considered difficult.
Negotiating
with yourself (yeah, I know it sounds a little crazy, but hear me out) can be
“achieved” through a form of mind control called “self-hypnosis.”
Some of
you reading this right now may have heard of this practice and know how
to do it, and for those who haven’t, here’s an example with 7 basic,
easy-to-follow steps.

Step 1.
Find a location conducive to relaxation.
Find a
quiet room with a comfortable temperature and set the lighting just right (not
too dim not too bright). Then… light candles and incense if you like.
Step 2. Surround yourself with pleasant sounds.
Play some
relaxing music. Bring a portable fountain. Hang some bells where the breeze
blows.
Why? Because the sound of music is soothing.
Step #3.
Find a comfortable location.
Surround
yourself with the things that make you feel most comfortable. For example, your
pillow, blanket, your favorite jogging shoes, whatever you like.
A caring, healing feeling always relieves stress.
Step 4.
Tell yourself this.
I am
relaxed, I am comfortable, I am comfortable with myself.
All my
tension, worry, and anxiety are gone.
I am
relaxed, I am comfortable, I am comfortable with myself.
(Close
your eyes, take a deep breath, repeat multiple times.)
Step #5.
Imagine the life you want.
Imagine every detail, every situation you want to happen. Imagine
it… as if this moment is really happening.
Step #6.
Repeat step #4.
Breathe in, breathe out. Now… imagine yourself surrounded by bright light, starting at your forehead
and filling the entire room.
Step #7.
Wake up!
When you
are ready and feeling refreshed, simply wake up.
Repeat
this routine as often as needed.
This
exercise simply helps you clear your mind.
It may
also lead you to a self-revelation that helps you evaluate how you want to
achieve your dreams.
It may or
may not work, and your goals may or may not come true - the universe has reasons
that humans may not understand.
The
important thing here is that "Self-hypnosis" will help you become better, calmer, more attuned to yourself, and more willing to help others.
When all
your tension and worries are gone, who knows what you will accomplish in the
days, weeks, months, and years ahead.
